The brief was to make a short documentary to show how Machine 9, an installation by Nick Ryan, works and was made. Our director set out to summarise how the machine tracks the positions of 27,000 pieces of space junk, transforming them into sound, in real time, as they pass overhead. It was a cold two-day shoot in a barn in essex. We were delighted with the end result which has been shown worldwide and was foundational in a continued working relationship with Nick Ryan.
